Eight Months Old

Eli is eight months old today!
Eli doesn't head back to the doctor for another month so I don't have any new stats but wanted to post some pictures and give you an up-date on what he is doing.
-Eli loves to sit up and play
-He is not really attempting to craw but rolls to whatever toy he wants
-Eli laughs all the time, showing off his cut dimples
-He is eating three meals a day with milk snacks
(he is still only eating only oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and avocado)
-No teeth yet

The Hair Cut

Brandon has been threatening to cut Eli's hair for the last couple of weeks. He does not like the long hairs that stand up and kinda get combed over. I wanted Eli's first haircut to be great and wanted to get lots of pictures and I didn't trust Brandon's haircutting ability. So, I took Eli to a kids haircut place to get a trim.
He did great and looks so cute! I even got gel to spike it up in the front. They kept his hair and put it in a bag with a certificate for me and a little picture frame that says "My 1st hair cut".
Then I got the bill. $18.00 for the cut, plus tip!! What is that about?? 18 bucks for a 20 minute hair cut for an eight month old??? I guess next time I will let Brandon cut Eli's hair.

Eli loved sitting in the car.
The stylist moved as Eli moved.

Eli was not sure how he felt about getting his hair wet.

Eli was not a fan of the clippers.

The Beach

We spent the last week in Florida on the beach. We stayed in Seagrove, just down the beach from Seaside. Seagrove is between Destin and Panama City.

Brandon, Eli, and I flew in with Amy and Michael (Brandon's brother and sister-in-law), their daughter Georgia, and Amy's parents Diane and Mike. With two babies and six adults we made it but I could not imagine flying with just Brandon and Eli (who would hold Eli while Brandon got the bags and I went to the restroom??).

Tom, Tess, and Tess' sister Debbie drove in and met us Saturday night, with tons of stuff Amy and I sent to make life easier with the kids! (see "Everything and the kitchen sink" post)
We rented a house with a private pool a short walk from the beach. Having our own house was great, we cooked most nights and had sandwiches for lunch. The house also let us hang out as a family tons and gave the kids room to play.

We would go down to the beach and play for awhile and then head back and throw the kids in the pool to get the sand off! (we did try rinsing them off with the hose but that only got some of the sand off)

Eli loved the water. The waves did not seem to bother him and he loved splashing. The few times I put Eli down in the sand to play or take pictures he ate sand and threw it in his own face (he is talented), so we stayed in the water when at the beach.

The pool was a big hit also. Eli loves to float with you holding him or in a baby float. Amy brought the float for Georgia but she was not interested in staying in it so Eli inherited it! Thanks Amy!!
Georgia and Eli had fun playing together. Georgia is very mobile and Eli loved watching her go from activity to activity. He also learned to hang onto his toys, since Georgia was very good at the grab and run. The best was when Eli would cry; Georgia always wanted to make it better! She was always fast to give kisses and hugs, although the hugs tended to be full body knock overs, Eli did learned to grab Georgia's hair to stay up.

We flew home yesterday with suitcases full of dirty clothes and lots of memories, but no sunburns!!

Here are some pictures of our trip. They are in random order!

Everything and the kitchen sink

I am packing for our upcoming trip to Florida and realizing I use a ton of stuff throughout the day. You need the normal stuff like; diapers, wipes, clothes, paci, snuggle, toys, and bath time soap, but you also need so much more. I need the buster seat so Eli will have someplace to eat, the bumbo so he can sit on the beach without face planting into the sand, the baby tolit to stay on top of his infant potty training (I know I'm crazy but it is working), Eli's stroller and car set, the blender to make his food since the airline won't let me take a weeks worth of sweet potatoes through, my breast pump, all the spoons and bowls and bibs for eating, a life vest to play in the ocean and pool, a floaty car to play in the pool, Eli's monitor so I can hear him during nap time, and of course sunscreen. Plus I worry, how are we going to make it with out his jumperoo, and swing, and sleeping in a pack-in-play, and what about his play mat. What if Eli loses it in the middle of the night and wakes up the rest of the house?
So, I have packed everything I can think of. My sweet mother-in-law and father-in-law are driving so they are taking a ton of stuff down with them and the rest I hope to pack in two suit cases. I guess there is always Wal-Mart if I forgot something, right??
Wish me luck, I'll need it!

Bad Mom and White Trash??

I wanted Eli to see the fire works on his first 4th of July, but it was over 100 degrees outside, so what is a mom to do?
We started the afternoon at Jo T's sitting in the shade with a fan blowing on us but it was still unbelievably hot. We had fun and so did Eli, playing with the girls and taking down some water in his sippy cup. After Jo T's we thought it would be fun to go to Concert in the Park, surely it would cool down when the sun went down, right? Wrong! It was hotter at 8:00pm than at 4:00 because there was no air movement. Here we are sitting in the Botanical Gardens sweating with a 7 month old striped down to his diaper. To top things off the fire works don't start until after 10:00pm (Eli has a late bedtime but not that late). We left as soon as the fire works were done to catch the bus back to where we parked, with Eli still only in his diaper.
I know people were looking at me thinking "what a bad mom, look at that baby all hot and only in his diaper, and what is he doing out so late at night", " I know what a white trash thing, someone should call CPS", "look at that white trash family out with their kid at 10:30 and only in a diaper"
So, Eli saw fire works on his first 4th of July and seemed to enjoy them, plus he got to hang out in his diaper. That does not sound to bad, right?
This is how Eli looked on the bus home, diaper only with his paci in.

Eli before he got striped down (this only lasted until the pictures were taken)

Then family watching the fire works, not sure how Eli felt when they first started going off?
