Growing up with the Academy

Last week I went to visit my friends at the Academy. It made me realize how some things change and some stay the same.

I started at the Academy a single college student totally unaware of the craziness of teaching.

In the fall of 2002 I was introduced to the Academy by fire. My first day I was handed a pair of pipe cutters and told that the 4th grade students would tell me what we were doing. From the first days many at the Academy called me "Baby Deb".

I went from student teaching to a long term sub in 4th grade. After being in someone else's class I finally got my own class in the fall of 2003.

I have had three great sets of kids (looping kindergarten-1st) in the past 5 year and loved most minutes!

During my time at the Academy I have grown up a lot.
I started single and in school and ended married with a baby! Along the way Brandon and I have bought a house, a couple new cars (new to us anyway), watched my mom go through chemo, gone through the loss of Micah (our sweet first born), and spent a nervous 36 weeks waiting for the arrival of our precious second son Eli!

WOW life is crazy!!

Through all this many 'old' (I use that term to show how long you have been at the Academy not your age) Academy friends still call me "Baby Deb" and you know I don't mind one bit.
